Shamik, Human Beatbox

Shamik is a beatboxer/ vocalist based in Vancouver who has performed in 15 countries and 5 continents. His vocal percussion is a language communicated with crushing basslines and crisp rhythms, like an acappella DJ set going from genre to genre. In the past 3 years Shamik toured with Method Man & Redman, Q-Bert, Bassnectar, Beats Antique, Sub Swara, Kentaro, Mike Relm, Tanya Tagaq and Lexie Lee. He has also performed with various bands including Thievery Corporation, Delhi 2 Dublin, Salmonella Dub, Oka, and Kellylee Evans. He has showcased at festivals such as Rothbury (USA), Shambhala, Vancouver Island Musicfest, Edmonton Folkfest (Canada), Sunburn (India), Colours of Ostrava (Czech Republic), Peats Ridge, Southbound (Australia), and Dubplate (Philippines).

Shamik was featured on 3 songs on Inuit throat singer, Tanya Tagaq's 'Auk' album. This album was released on Mike Patton's Ipepac Recordings label. He made a guest appearance on Subvert's 'Party Alarm' EP which was released on Excision's Rottun Records label. Along with his two solo albums, Shamik has collaborated on projects by Sub Swara, Knight Riderz, Kush Arora, Tim Williams, and Ariane Mahryke Lemire. Shamik's career highlights are performing alongside hip hop godfather Kool Herc, dubstep pioneers Skream & Benga, and beatbox icon Killa Kela. He also recently performed with 12-time Grammy winning dobro player Jerry Douglas, and opened for 10-time Grammy winning legend George Benson. Other highlights include live collaborations with Z-Trip, Mat The Alien, Fort Knox Five, Excision, Skratch Bastid, and Kutmasta Kurt.
